Located upstairs, the loft on the third floor and the apartment on the first, are distinguished above all by their volumes. Their respective atmospheres are different due to the division of the space.
The loft, judiciously placed under the slopes of the roof, has many smaller windows which give a beautiful luminosity by the circulation of their numerous high beams gathered in this large one-piece room. The Loft consists of a large spacious living room, an equipped kitchen with a dining room, two bedrooms, and a large bathroom with shower and bathtub. The master bedroom with large windows and views overlooking the Aubrac plateau, consisting of a double bed (160 x 200cm), a second small bed on the side, and a large work desk. The double doors of this bedroom open wide back into the loft. The second bedroom consists of two single beds (200 x 90) and a two-seater school desk. With a floor area of up to 150 square metres, the Loft is furnished in a cosy taste of light or halftones, combining the atmosphere of ecological materials and the pleasant warmth of a wood-burning stove with the retro style of the furniture. Needless to say, the retro style is not about bedding, whose comfort is La Colonie’s primary concern
The Apartment on the first floor offers, in a different layout, the same advantages as the Loft, also with two bedrooms, with windows which overlook the garden, certainly larger, but which, from the first floor, do not open onto the same horizon. The equivalent floor space is further divided into a large living, dining room, an equipped kitchen and a large and comfortable bathroom with shower and cast iron bathtub. The first impression when entering these large spaces is the feeling of being invited to stay. You can already see yourself, coming in rested from the outdoor’s open air and regaining strength with a hot drink in an deep armchair next to the warmth of a wood burning stove. It is then, when the Aubrac plateau comes up between these walls, where the sensation of an infinite but calm, peaceful space resounds silently. The location of both The Loft and The Apartment in the building gives them an atmosphere, and acoustics, independent of the life of La Colonie, and it was still necessary to find someone who had the multiple experiences of hospitality, savoir-vivre and business. La Colonie, a one-man business, became that of his wife, Lizette, and a Franco-Mexican, polyglot family. Thus was born this place of exchange, in all discretion, in Spanish, Italian, English and French! Comfortable rooms and a table d’hôtes abundantly stocked with regional specialities, as well local products from the immediate surroundings, such as wine of Entraygues, and the very exceptional aligot of Aubrac accompanied with local cheeses and charcuterie. The way of welcoming guests has evolved in terms of its cuisine, oriented towards a farmers market cuisine with local fresh organic vegetables, local meats and cheeses, and a choice of wines, whether organic to the more elaborate, and always our house champagne.
